Outside the house, Wool Bugs are in their mating season. Elias shows Chise how to shave the wool from the bugs. The wool is used for magic. Elias leaves Chise a lone for a moment and Chise is attacked by an aggressive Snow Bug. Recovering from the bug, Chise and Elias discuss their relationship. Simon visits for his medicine. Latter that night they are visited by an old creature of magic. He gives Chise a fur and she changes into a fox.
