Elias is transformed into a beast, mourning the lose of Chise. Elias’ cries damage the forest, drawing the attention of the fairy kingdom. Elias is held down and the queen makes a deal with Elias to find Chise.

The story of a young Joseph starts with the boy working as a grave digger. The villages call the boy cursed and pick on him. One day Joseph finds a body calling for help and he nurses it back to health. Joseph wishes to run away with his new friend the minute it become better, however, Cartaphilus never became better. In-fact Cartaphilus wasn’t sick at all. Joseph becomes the new Cartaphilus and wonders the world to find a cure.

Chise is find and a battle occurred. Joseph lets loose his monstrous creations and Chise chases after him. Goatherder spots Chise running and stops her, Chise explains that she must chase after that boy, and Goatherder transforms into a bull for Chise to ride.
