Ichirou Suzuki returns to work at a video game company. As a programmer he faces a long list of bugs reported by the users of the game. Facing what is to be a long day of work, Ichirou prepares himself for what he calls a “Death March” or marathon of hard work.

In the late of night in the office, Ichirou is about to fall asleep at his desk. He emails his completed work and falls asleep. Suddenly Ichirou wakes in what he believes to be a dream. Ichirou is in the video game as his character Satou. Unable to log out and exit the game, the menus are fully usable. A horde of lizard men approach Satou’s position.

Satou casts a dangerous spell he does not understand how to use. A meteor shower rains down from the sky. Satou’s level increases to 310. Satou is dazed and confused when a single high level lizard man survived to attack Satou. Satou defeats the lizard man and takes the time to explorer his character.

Satou discovers that his stats are maxed out, he has an enormous amount of gold and skill points, and his inventory is full of items and gear. Satou runs out into the world to find the nearest town. On his way he sees a march of human soldiers being attacked by a dragon.
