Learn moreComputer repair services should cost a flat fee. Computer services such as hardware testing and virus removal is mostly unattended, this means that a technician can service multiple computers at a time or run off and buy a cup of coffee while waiting to preform the next task.
Computer repair services use to require a lot of equipment and a little bit of labor. Thanks to today’s ever changing technology and modern repair methods, almost nothing is needed to preform the service.
Traditional Computer Repair Methods
In traditional computer repair a service computer and a floppy disk is required.
Often the computer requiring servicing is taken apart one part at a time for testing or servicing.
A service computer is used to preform hardware testing, virus removal, etc.
The floppy disk was once an essential part of traditional computer repair. Floppy disks would be used for Windows’ boot disks (Windows’ start-up disks) and DOS software.
An hourly rate would make sense due to the amount of labor required and technical skill.
Modern Computer Repair Methods
Modern computer repair was introduced around 2002 with Windows XP and Linux technologies.
Modern computer repair is mostly software oriented and almost eliminates all aspects of traditional repair. Since the new modern method is almost completely software based, advance software can provide a wide rage of possibilities, higher efficiency, detailed hardware information, detailed test results, etc.
Because modern computer repair requires very little labor, technical skill, equipment and is highly more efficient a computer technician can service several computers simultaneously. A flat fee is appropriate for modern repair.
Thanks to new advancements in technology, computer repair has now been made simple. Modern repair provides the best services possible to date and is almost effort less; there is almost no reason to be charged an hourly rate, a flat fee is more than appropriate for computer repair.
