The Free To Play strategy, means that the game is free to play, you can play the game for free with an optional cash shop and premium options available for purchase.

The cash shop allows players to buy bonuses or optional items with real money. Premium options such as extra character slots, larger inventory can be available with purchase/subscription.

A good Free To Play game provides paid options as an optional feature in the game, meaning that the player does not require or feel that they may require these options to play. However, some Free To Play games make the game free like a trail and if you want to win and get ahead in the game you will have to spend some money to play. Some games go as far as to make you rent items and power ups for a limited time.

The cost of purchasing, Free To Play games use credits like tokens, if you do the math, you may be very surprise to see the cost of the cheapest items in the game is priced at over a dollar, useful items can cost over 10 dollars with better items costing up to 50 dollars. Over the course of one year, you may end up spending well over 200 dollars. The cost of a paid game is about 30 to 60 dollars with no additional costs. Subscription games have no added costs and are often only 9 to 14 dollars per month, pricing below the Free To Play game, plus paid or subscription games have no limitations, where some Free To Play games requires constant spending.

Addiction, many people don’t realize how must they are spending till it’s too late. For example, it is not uncommon for people to spend over 500 dollars per month on Facebook games.

There are many Free To Play games that are fair and do not encourage any purchasing, so try the game first or read reviews and avoid those games that are pay to win.
