Learn moreStuff I bought on eBay.
So I was looking on eBay for cheap computer stuff I could use or give away and I came across cheap USB hubs, I remembered people saying their laptop only had two or three ports and it wasn’t enough so I decided to get some.
I got the most common cheap hub advertised as USB 2.0 and ordered four. They came from China and the hubs came in cheap retail packaging, the back of package had all the details about the product in English with spelling mistakes. I tried each item to make such they worked, each one didn’t pass the single USB Flash Drive test nor did any device register as USB 2.0. It seems that this product although marked and labels as USB 2.0 was actually USB 1.1 and this hub split the voltage by dividing up to total amount from the USB port equally thus could not power a USB Flash Drive by itself, there was just enough power for a mouse and keyboard and in my opinion was borderline under powered as sometimes the keyboard stopped working.
Don’t buy this, just pay full price for an actual USB hub that works as advertised.
