Kino travels on her talking motorcycle to a small country where murder is permitted. On the road Kino pulls over to talk to a young man. The man asks Kino what she knows of the country and explains about the law. The young man wishes to start a new life by committing crimes. Kino rejects his request to help carry his bags and returns on the road.
Kino arrives in the country and feels bored. The country is small and surrounded by walls. The peaceful country was boring, and quiet. Kino eats and has desert with an old man name Regel. After desert the young man from road appears with malice towards Kino.
The man proclaims his excitement for killing and taking without law. The people take notice and the young man learns the truth of the country. Kino leaves and finds another traveler on the road, her talks to him. The man asks if the rumors are true. Yes it is very safe answers Kino, and she returns to her journey.
