Kino travels to a place with beautiful forests, but she is reluctant to visit their country. Rumors have it that the country rude to visits and does not want them. Kino reaches the entrance and is surprised how polite the guards are. Kino enters to be greeted like royalty.
A little named Sakura volunteers to be Kino’s guide and brings Kino to her parents hotel. Kino is treated like royalty during her stay, so much so that Kino asks to say longer, however, her request was rejected. Kino leaves with a crowd of people to she off and Sakura’s mother gives Kino a breakfast, and lunch bag.
Kino sleeps in the forest miles away from the kind country to be awakened by the eruption of a volcano. Kino witnesses a large-scale pyroclastic flow, destroying the country. Kino finds a note in the bag Sakura’s mother had left her, Kino reads it to learn the awful and sad truth.
