Computer Technicians Always Backup

Important!

Dear visitors,

This blog and the Tigarus.com network will be changing our website software in May (2024). There will be some down time and there will be a change to the webpage addresses.

We will also be removing the Anime blogs. The Rocksmith Songs website will be unavailable of a few weeks or months while I move the database to the new software.

At the moment we are running on Wordpress, the new software is an in-house project which is 57 times faster. It will also provide more freedom for development.

Thank you for understanding.

A computer technician was paid to service a business computer. The technician decided that the computer needed the operating system fully restored. Doing so the technician didn’t backup the client’s data and was sued for almost half a million dollars in damages (approximately $420,000).

The technician filed for bankruptcy and lost his business license. If only he remembered to backup the client’s data, this wouldn’t have happened.

Hi there, I spend a lot of time making this blog.

Clients often get the short hand of the stick when going to local computer shops or retail stores by amateur technicians. Computer Dealers force clients to agree to have no liabilities, making the client responsible for backing up.

Real computer technicians always backup; in-fact the cost of backing up a client’s computer is relatively small. Clients can buy an external storage device like a portable hard drive at a cost of about $100 – 150 dollars. The average computer user uses an average amount of 15 – 40 GBs (Gigabytes) of data. A simple $100 dollar investment can be used to backup 10 computers.

So always remember to backup. Forgetting could cost you an arm and a leg.

Professional Note:
Professional computer technicians and repair shops will use large RAID systems to backup data. Today’s RAID 5 storage devices are becoming widely available to the public at the cost of hundreds to thousands of dollars. RAID 5 or 6 is highly recommended for it’s speed, storage space and reliability were cheaper solutions may break and fail.
