I wanted to try virtual reality (VR) to see if getting a Vive or Oculus Rift is a real thing worth getting. Seeing the diagrams of the Open-Source Virtual Reality (OSVR) headset, VR is basically a smart phone screen with a motion sensor and lenses. I can see how their can be so may headsets on the market thanks to Google Cardboard. I bought the “VR Shinecon” also know as the “BlitzWolf VR” for $25 CAD to be used with any smart phone I could find.
The VR Shinecon has adjustable lenses for different screen sizes which is very important. The VR Shinecon is large, fits nicely, and is comfortable. However, I found the top head strap to be troublesome. The headset is full featured with a removable front plate, side openings for cables, and fits a screen up to 5.7 inches (not 6).
Build quality is pretty solid with thick plastic, however, I found the distance feature was not secure enough and would move on it’s own. Overall, for $25 CAD, it’s worth throwing your money away to try.
