Northwestel To Upgrade Internet Service

Important!

Dear visitors,

This blog and the Tigarus.com network will be changing our website software in May (2024). There will be some down time and there will be a change to the webpage addresses.

We will also be removing the Anime blogs. The Rocksmith Songs website will be unavailable of a few weeks or months while I move the database to the new software.

At the moment we are running on Wordpress, the new software is an in-house project which is 57 times faster. It will also provide more freedom for development.

Thank you for understanding.

Recent upgrades to the ADSL service include the following below.
Information Gathered August 31, 2009

starterConnect $34.95 128 Kbps DL 64 Kbps UL 1 GB Data
ADSL Lite $39.95 384 Kbps DL 128 Kbps UL 5 GB Data
ADSL Classic $59.95 2.5 Mbps DL 256 Kbps UL 10 GB Data
ADSL Ultra $79.95 5 Mbps DL 512 Kbps UL 20 GB Data

The apparent changes appears to be in
ADSL Lite    256 Kbps DL >>  384  Kbps  DL
ADSL Classic    2 Mbps DL >> 2.5 Mbps DL
ADSL Classic    128 Kbps UL >> 256 Kbps UL

I’m glade they finally upgraded the upload speed after down grading it years ago, but I’d much rather see a upgrade in the monthly data transfer.

Biggest upgrades in recent Internet services seem to be in there Cable and Business Cable Internet services up to 16Mbps Download and up to over 60 GB monthly data transfer.

Northwestel announces/claims of major upgrades to Internet service September 1st providing faster speeds and more data usage made possible due to new major improvements in Northwestel’s infrastructure.

I hope so. I await the day that I can download a backup copy of World of Warcarft from the Blizzard website without using 50% – 100% of my monthly Internet limit. The current value of service is that of a third world country and this fact is embarrassing, I can move to Germany, Korea, Japan, America and get VDSL with unlimited usage for $60 a month.

* Update Sep 3, 2009 Northwestel is slow to officially update there service details. *

* ADSL Ultra was upgraded from 20GBs data to 30GBs data. *
*Oct 02, 2009 Northwestel backs out on upgrade; still 20GBs*

* ADSL Lite was upgraded from 256 Kbps DL to 384 Kbps DL and 2 GBs data to 5 GBs data*

* ADSL Classic wasn’t updated at all since unofficially customers have been receiving this level of service for at least a year now. 2 Mbps DL to 2.5 Mbps DL and 128 Kbps UL to 256 Kbps UL *

I was wondering where you found your information on the so called adsl ultra upgrade from 20 GB to 30 GB a month ? I could have sworn that I either heard on the news (radio),read in the paper or had found in a flyer supplied with my nwtel bill the exact same information. Much to my surprise when I contacted nwtel to find out why my usage tool on their website still showed a 20 GB cap I was told that no the ultra was not part of any upgrade and where did I hear this! If you could e-mail me any particulars on this subject I would really appreciate it.

You’re right on the announcement web page they did say 30GBs per month but was latter changed back to 20GBs, the upgrade was never posted on the official service details web page on the Northwestel website.

Which continues to support by other blog post “Northwestel only upgrades Cable Internet Service”
