Script: Detect Flash Plugin (JS)

Important!

Dear visitors,

This blog and the Tigarus.com network will be changing our website software in May (2024). There will be some down time and there will be a change to the webpage addresses.

We will also be removing the Anime blogs. The Rocksmith Songs website will be unavailable of a few weeks or months while I move the database to the new software.

At the moment we are running on Wordpress, the new software is an in-house project which is 57 times faster. It will also provide more freedom for development.

Thank you for understanding.

Description: This Java Script detects if the website visitor has the Flash plugin installed and returns the API values [Name, File, Description, Version]. This script was written to work with Gecko based web browsers and does not works with Internet Explorer.

Personal Notes: I don’t know why my attempts to detect Flash with ActiveX gets blocked by Internet Explorer and Adobe’s Flash Detection Kit doesn’t get blocked. Anyways Adobe has a free kit for detecting the Flash plugin and the Flash embedded script can be used as a self detection script so this project was pretty senseless.

Update 2012-02-27: Will be updated for Internet Explorer soon.
