Learn moreDear visitors,
This blog and the Tigarus.com network will be changing our website software in May (2024). There will be some down time and there will be a change to the webpage addresses.
We will also be removing the Anime blogs. The Rocksmith Songs website will be unavailable of a few weeks or months while I move the database to the new software.
At the moment we are running on Wordpress, the new software is an in-house project which is 57 times faster. It will also provide more freedom for development.
Thank you for understanding.
Script Title: setStyleUserSelect
Programming Language: Java Script
Date Completed: 2012/10/07
Purpose: To provide an easy to use, cross browser method for setting the User Select style. Prevents the user from selecting objects on a Web page.
Description: Web browsers have a unique CSS feature for blocking the user select action, however, some Web browsers use an attribute instead. This Java Script function simplifies the process.
Returns undefined if the target Object is not defined or if the value argument is not defined. Returns true if the user select has been set or false if the user select could not be set.
Compatibility: Works with all modern Web browsers.
Method:
Object.setStyleUserSelect ( value_s, [noChild_b] );
Optional argument noChild_b, default value false. This argument is used with MSIE and Opera based Web browsers. When set to false, all child elements except input and text area elements are affected. When set to true, only one element will be set.
Example Usage:
document.getElementById(“myDiv”).setStyleUserSelect (“none”);
Or
“myDiv”.setStyleUserSelect (“none”);
