Script Title: appendStyleSheetRule
Programming Language: Java Script
Date Completed: 2012/11/22
Purpose: To add a Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) rule to a style sheet in a Web page.
Description: Dynamically insert a CSS rule into an existing style sheet in a Web page.
Returns true if the rule has been set, returns false if the rule could not be set because the external style sheet was not accessible. Returns undefined if a function property is not valid or the style sheet does not exist.
Compatibility: Works with all modern Web browsers.
Note: Some Web browsers do not allow access to external CSS elements, will return the value of false.
Method:
appendStyleSheetRule ( sheet_i, rule_s, properties_s, [index_i] );
Optional argument index_i, set the index value to place the rule in the style sheet, default value -1.
Example Usage:
appendStyleSheetRule( 0, “div”, “border: 1px solid;” );
Adds the Rule:
div {
border: 1px solid;
}
To the first listed style sheet in the HTML DOM.
